So I have a 7 egg incubator and I’m incubating 4 Silkie chicken eggs. Last night I put them in for the first time and when I went to bed the thermometer read 99 degrees but this morning when I checked it dropped to 95. I quickly fixed it but I’m wondering if this will effect them? It was the very first night so I’m hoping they will be okay. Any thoughts? I know this incubator isn’t the best, that’s why I got a separate thermometer to put in there.

It may be ok. That's a critical period because the heart is beginning to form. I hope they're ok. Just candle in a week and see.

Would the heart start forming the first 4 hours though? That’s about how long they were in there before the temp drop.

Well, cells multiply rapidly, but not in 4 hours. 8 hours though at that temp, probably. Some people have hatched eggs that sat out most of the day after being laid in the summer, and those temps were probably in the 90s. I think they'll be ok.
