First time incubating

I think it's 2 factors that make me nervous. 1 I paid a lot for them and 2 it's a baby in there.

I don't feel confident in my homemade incubator either.

Have you got your bator set and running? Just remember when you set your eggs that you give it time to settle before making any adjustments, give the eggs chance to come up to temp in the incubator. I'm sure you will be fine and we are here for you on BYC to eleviate any worries you may have.

Well I have it sitting now to make sure it's good temp and humidity. I just got my shipped eggs today and unwrapped them and have them out.
I moved my bator in a room I feel will be better for keeping the right temp of the room.

I did make my bator from a styrofoam cooler, light bulb, thermometer and screen. I have one set of eggs that go into lock down tonight but only 3 of 8 is making it. Idk

I just hope to get some little baby chicks!

Final hatch tally, 9 out on their own. I have 2 lemon cuckoo for sure - I hope one is a girl. I also have at least one chocolate!!!!!!!

Number 10 needed some assistance and I don't think he will make it. Left him in the incubator and everyone else is in the brooder.

I'll post some pics if I can get them to stop moving for a second.

That's AWSOME! I have my first hatch going into lock down tonight. I only have 3 of 8 so I hope they make it!

But...,,., I have learned so much and I really feel like I can do this on my eggs I got today in the mail. If not then ill hatch my own lol

I put my eggs in on Oct 15 at 8:45 am. Today is 20 and not movement. Should I be worried?

If you set on October 15 you are only on day 19 at the moment. You don't count the day you set the eggs in the incubator as day 1.

Day 1 is after a full 24 hours of incubation. So as you say you set October 15 at 8.45 am so day 1 would be October 16 at 8.45 am day 2 would be October 17 at 8.45 am and so on.

No I wouldn't be worried yet :frow

Oooooooo I didn't know that!!! Thanks!! I feel better now.

Also, Please do not be lifting or tilting your hen to see the eggs at this time----let her take care of them----when she gets ready she will come off the nest, "I" would NOT place any food or water in or close to her nest-----the BEST thing to do is Just sit back and watch. My 33rd hen for this season is due to hatch Soon. Good Luck!!
