First time incubating

Also, Please do not be lifting or tilting your hen to see the eggs at this time----let her take care of them----when she gets ready she will come off the nest, "I" would NOT place any food or water in or close to her nest-----the BEST thing to do is Just sit back and watch. My 33rd hen for this season is due to hatch Soon. Good Luck!!
Uh.....It's ok if she wants to tilt her hen......the eggs are in her home made bator......lol

See........

Well I have it sitting now to make sure it's good temp and humidity. I just got my shipped eggs today and unwrapped them and have them out.
I moved my bator in a room I feel will be better for keeping the right temp of the room.

I did make my bator from a styrofoam cooler, light bulb, thermometer and screen. I have one set of eggs that go into lock down tonight but only 3 of 8 is making it. Idk

I just hope to get some little baby chicks!

thanks guys! I am sick with the flu so I got my days mixed up.
Yea they are in the bator I made. Being that it's my first full hatch I'm a very nervous mom to be! Hehe.
I have the temp and humidity right from what I am reading but when should I see movement?

I've seen people talk about their eggs rocking as early as day 18 but they could rock late too. I didn't see mine rock at all until the pip (granted I only had two hatch in the first hatch). I don't know how I didn't see anything as I was glued to the bator as much as I could be.....lol

You won't always see them rocking or moving. But that doesn't mean they are dead. Some just don't move as much as others, and they could be moving when you aren't looking too.

That's good to know! Maybe I'll see some rocking soon!

My babies are so big and its only been a few days. I have some pics on my camera but I can't find the cord. I'll post them when I'm done tearing about the house looking for it.

And I'm officially addicted and put some more eggs in my incubator today. Light Sussex and Duccle.

YAY!!! I know the feeling. I was collecting eggs today and had a thought of keeping them for hatching then thought better of it. Lol Thanksgiving is comming soon and I won't be in town for a couple of days lol.

So what do you do with your babies when they hatch Autunm

Where do you get the eggs from? Your own flock?

We'll day 20 and they look the same as every other day! I just hope they don't all die!

Well I hope they all hatch for you!! GOOD LUCK!!!

I got to move about 100 eggs to the hatcher tomorrow, well I will take that back, I got to take about 100 out the incubator and put the "good" ones in the hatcher. I usually have 15 to 20 out of a 100 that are not fertile or bad eggs. I am mainly hatching eggs from young hens that recently started laying. Most of Their eggs are to small to sell to my customers so I hatch them and sell the chicks. I am not sure how that is going to work as it gets colder, but I sold about 100 chicks last week so we will see.
