First time incubating....

Where does everyone keep there bators? I was going to put it on my kitchen counter but DH says to put it in the bedroom but im afraid our nosy dog might get curious!

Yeah that's what I have as well. LIke I said, i kept my temps around 100-101, and the chicks hatched 2-3 days early. If the temps are a little low, it makes them hatch late, and if they are high, the chicks hatch early. I also have bantams, which I have also been told hatch early, but with my second hatch, I kept the temp closer to 100, and only one hatched early(day 18), the others were on day 20-21, Just make sure that you have the sensor part of the thermometer even with the tops of the eggs. You could also make a water wiggler. Take a ziploc baggie fill it about halfway with water, and stick it into a toilet paper roll. Use an old mercury thermometer, and stick it into the inside of the baggie, between the two sides. This represents the temperature of the inside of the egg. As long as this is close to 99.5, then you should be ok. It would set at the same level as the eggs. Good luck!

i keep mine in my office in the house. It's a huge cabinet bator so it's not pretty and my wife want let me put it anywhere else. Got to keep her happy;)

I have mine on the kitchen cabinet. That is the only place I can put it that the cats won't use it as a scratching post!!

I keep mine in the spare bedroom, fist it was on the floor, now on the dresser. It should be kept somewhere away from direct sunlight, that is pretty stable in temperature. A lot of people keep theirs in a closet!

Not me though, the mice are back!!

I got a free computer fan off of freecycle and then wired it up to an ac/dc adapter I had around the house. You may try that. It helps even out the temps in the inbubator to have a fan

Ok so temp is staying right at 100.7 but my humidity wont go above 35-37 and thats with the water in the bator. Anyone have any idea's on how to raise it a little and keep it that way?
