First Time Incubator Hatch, Help!

I'm laying here by the computer thinking how exhausted I am & I only have 3 kids (9, 16 & 23) and the oldest isn't here. lol sorry I'm off the topic. ~Julie~

So here is Tappy, I decided to call her, (I hope its a her) Tappy!!!

she pipped right next to the tape, so i took the tape off and left her alone for 8hrs. And when i came back to check on her. she was dried and fluffy.

I dont know what color she is? The parents Lavender Roo and Blue Roos and Blue, Lavender and Splash Hens.

I think shes a splash. I have 5 other chicks that are the same color as her. 23 out of 37 hatched, i say thats a good hatch for shipped eggs??? Here are some pictures of her dried and fluffy, ready to be put into the brooder with her sisters and brothers.

Thanks for all the advice!!! Id be lost with out you guys.

so yeah I think 9 is way too much.

I have a hypothosis. I think having chicks already hatched in the incubator helps the chicks still in the eggs break through quicker. It seems to stimulate them. When I leave my chicks in for the whole 24hrs before opening, it seems the next ones hatch quicker, but when I take them out, there is a longer wait for the others to emerge. What do you all think?

OT: I have found 3 were the hardest number to deal with. We love our large family, and because we had them pretty close in age, they always have someone to play/talk with. There seldom is a bored moment around here. lol It's not any extra work for me with having older children, as well. From a young age, the all learn to pitch in and help where needed. It's great team work.

I do agree that by the babies being in the incubator while other eggs still waiting to hatch, it helps. Its like when you talk to the eggs through the incubator it encourages/motivates the babies inside the eggs. ~Julie~
