First time incubator questions.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I'm hearing 1 peep. Egg #8 is making sounds. The others aren't yet, but they will. My husband is going to keep an eye on it tonight because he's up and down all night, and if he sees anything he's going to wake me up. If I'm not already up lol. He laughed at me for talking to it through the vent holes lol. If he didn't want me doing crazy things he shouldn't have married crazy lol. I'm so excited! This chick is mine. My boys can have another one lol. I got the brooder mostly set. I'll turn on the light tomorrow morning, and fill the water container. I put in the shavings with potty pads over them, and the food container is filled. Now to wait for the hatch.

I HAVE A BABY CHICK!! It hatched just a little bit ago and is so adorable even if it looks a bit like a drowned rat lol. I checked on it around 430 this morning and it's now almost 530. All I saw was that it had pipped. My 4 yr old just woke up and wants to see.

It's name is either going to be Amelia or Amelio depending on if it's a girl or boy. As soon as the others hatch I'll be posting some pics. I can't believe I did it. I have a chick out of my own breeding.

Here's a pic of Amelia / Amelio. I have 2 more that have pipped. I know it's not the best pic but it works for now lol. I think she's a girl. I have a true newborn chick. Oh and if i hatched 50 to a 100 chicks my husband would kill me lol. I had a hard time getting him to let me hatch these lol. I already pulled all the probes and wires out so the babies don't get caught in them. I did that when i saw she pipped this morning. The rag the eggs are on is an old burp rag/ cloth diaper. I keep them around to clean up messes and works great for the eggs to rest on. Keeps the air cell up, and gives the babies a soft place to rest. Plus i can just toss it in the washer to clean it from the yuckies lol. I might pull the potty pads out of the brooder and put clean burp rags in instead. I don't keep paper towels around because they're just a waste to me.

5 beautiful healthy chicks! The last one i got to watch. It was awesome watching that baby break through the shell. Now they're all 5 drying out, and resting.
