Hi all,
My first time layer pekin chicken is laying very weirdly- for the first few days she layed every other day then stopped for a few days and it has now been a week since she last layed and she is now just sitting in her laying spot and not laying at all, please can you give me some advice on this and what to do!
Thanks x

sometimes new layers can have irregular lay patterns as they're still trying to find their flow.
I'd still definately keep an eye on her.
Is she squatting down at all? What food is she on? does she have access to calcium?
Good luck!

She is on some kind of layers pellets and she has access to oyster shells all the time, and she is walking normally, just not with the e group very much since she is always sitting down.

ah ok! Hens naturally will look for a place to lay before they have to, but normally only an hour before they lay their egg.

I see a lot of layer feeds that are 16% protein, Sometimes if their isn't enough protein in the diet so an all flock feed with 18%-20% protein would be better, especially if you have any hens that aren't laying since they don't need the excess calcium in the layer feed.

it is a bit expensive so you could mix a higher protein feed with the layer which is what I'm doing atm
