Im letting my silkie hen Coco hatch 2 eggs from my mystery girl Ginny and 2 eggs from my nonbearded easter egger Minerva. Neville is my silkie Roo and dad to all 4 eggs. Originally the plan was to let Coco hatch her own pure silkies but she stopped laying before that decision was made. I couldn't break her broodiness so we will see how this goes and next time she will hatch her own. Any tips to make her life easier right now? It is hot here so I've got stuff to try to keep her cool and I have food and water in the coop with her and outside.

The 4 possible new additions, I'll candle in a week to see what we have going on.

No clue what these little ones will look like please post any of your silkie EE or other silkie crosses. They will be our pets either way.

I have crossed a silkie and an EE before. I only got two eggs to hatch though.

Unfortunately one baby was scalped by 3 turkeys, he has recovered but he lost his crest.

The other baby is suffering from Marek's right now, he seems to be doing well though and will hopefully survive. I will have to get some updated pictures tomorrow.

That’s so sad about the attack on the chick! But they are so cute!

Well unfortunately none of the eggs I have under Coco are fertile however I'm still going to let her be a mom so I'm picking up 6 developing silkie eggs from s friend for her to finish. I'll get to keep back 2 so I'll make sure to update you all when they hatch!

Well I ended up hatching 2 out of the 7 fertile eggs I got. Unfortunately one chick only lived 48 hours. My single chick I decided to named Mouse. I ended up bringing back the 5 that still haven't hatched and brought home 4 of her days old chicks that need a mom so now we have 5. I will get to keep 2 out of the 5, Mouse being an obvious choice lol. I will get better pictures of the new babies once they've settled. Coco is an amazing mother! These babies are between 4 and 6 days old and she went and sat right on them tucked them under her and they all took a nap. This was broad daylight no waiting until dark, her and Mouse welcomed all of them!

This was our first to hatch, I found it lifeless stuck in the shell ice cold. We fought hard for 2 days but sadly he passed away.
