Hey! My elderly mom and I are newbies to this, too (since mid-August). We thought we'd done something wrong when our 4 (sold as egg-laying-aged) hens (and 1 rooster) hadn't laid a single egg for over 2 weeks after we got them. It's still hit or miss so we're grateful for any gift (blessing from God) the girls give us, but it would be win-win if I knew how to keep them relaxed and healthy to lay every 26 hours...maybe even make us some bitties (there was a single bittie with my group but it died a few days before I was getting the coop and group delivered - the seller said she didn't know how or why). We wondered if maybe it was b/c it was a baby male and the rooster killed it? (New understanding and - oddly - appreciation of the circle of life and God's animal kingdom.)
I'm new(bie) here, as well. I will try to figure that out...Hi @ChickenNoobs thanks for joining us. You might want to start a new thread to ask about your flock: Chicken Behaviors and Egglaying. Best wishes!
