We bought 6 chicks in March approximately 3 days old but don't know for sure. 2 buff orphingtons,2 isa browns, 1 Slw and a speckled Sussex. The first one to lay eggs was one of the browns and has produced an egg a day for the past 2 weeks. Just wondering if the others will follow her lead or just do it in their own time?

glad you have joined us. And Congrats on already getting some eggs.

I only have experience with the BO's and they are somewhat late bloomers - be patient and all will be giving you some eggs soon.

Different breeds and hens lay at different ages and the average of 20-25 weeks is just that, average. Congrats on the eggs you got so far and hoping the other ladies will start paying the rent soon!
