We noticed three days ago that one of our drakes has an internally rotated foot and has a significant lump associated with it. He’s skittish so we haven’t been able to inspect his leg closely. Any ideas/ treatment suggestions. I don’t want to cull him if this is something fixable.

Any way you can get a picture?

A picture would be very helpful

How long have you had the drake?

How old is he?

Is he in a duck house with a run, or out free ranging during the day?
He is in a run and the ducks stay under a high raised chicken coop at night we tried to make a duck friendly ramp into the coop but no luck. There are no chickens in that coop. He is eating, grooming, trying to mate but obviously having a hard time getting around.

He’s a big guy! I’ve had a duck wjth a completely rotated foot from a birth defect live completely fine, I’m sure that this guy could too. Do you know what caused this guys injury?

he looks pretty big- what feed is he on? And how old is he? When did his foot begin to angle inwards, or has he always had this, has it worsened?
Could you describe the lump you mentioned?
Regardless of the details, I'd say it would be a good idea to start supplementing niacin for this boy, he looks pretty heavy on his legs.
B complex is good, they have it at TSC, the brand is durvet and you can offer it orally via 1ml over a treat.
@Miss Lydia what do you think?

I second trying the BComplex from TSC. He is a hefty boy and I’m sure his legs are feeling the weight. Can you get a picture up close of his foot? Walk behind him slowly into the coop and pick him up. TSC will probably have Durvet liquid b complex pull off the foil pull out the rubber stopper and pull out 1 ml and put over a tasty treat for him so you know he is getting full dose. Don’t worry it says injectable we use it orally

Does an oral paste thiamine and vitamin b do the same? Just curious because my tsc doesn’t offer this!
