Thank you! I was so excited I ran in the house and before I could get a word out of my mouth my son looked at me and said "they started hatching I am guessing?" Guess I was a bit obvious!Sweet! Congratulations!10/11 is a very good hatch rate too!![]()
Oh Congrats!! I'm so excited for you, what a wonderful hatch! Have fun with the babies.I HAVE CHICKS! My broody Isa Brown was sitting on 11 eggs due to hatch on Sunday, but on Saturday as I went out to feed and water her she was acting funny. Kept lifting up and had a wierd expression on her face. I could not stand the suspense so I lifted her up a few inches and there was a empty shell and a little wet baby! The rest hatched all day long and I gave her until yesterday around 2:00 when I checked on her there was 10 little babies all staring at me! They are so darn cute! I rearranged her dog crate, stuck cardboard all around the edges and put brand new bedding in for her and the babies, Also put in food and water so she got up off the last remaning egg that had not hatched and ran over with the chicks and started to eat and drink. All are doing great!
Oh, I am sorry about that, but you did say you have 7 eggs left so fingers crossed here!We still only have our 1 little chick. We are down to 7 eggs left though. We have found 2 of the eggs cracked but empty with Hazel eating one of the shells. No evidence of babies that could have been in them and the one I found yesterday looked and smelled like it was likely a bad egg. The eggs that have been opened have been the ones from the RIRs so i am assuming those weren't fertile at all. We were told by someone to give the eggs till Tuesday at the latest to make sure we don't have late hatchers. We are suspecting that this chick will be the only one we will be getting from this hatch though.
Tell that girl to get with it and hatch us a baby now. I'm starting to go crazy hereJust checked on Ida a few minutes ago. She has moved AGAIN, but no chicks. This is either day 20 or 21- the stepped on chick was still absorbing yolk and had not pipped through the inner membrane yet (though she did seem to be on the right end of the egg)- so I'm thinking this is probably day 20.![]()
Still hoping that at least one baby hatches.![]()
