First time with hen sitting

Duct tape?
I hope no sticky part is exposed to the chicks....and it sticks well enough not get knocked loose.
No I made it so no stickiness is exposed and my husband attached it to the nester with tools so we can take it off. I lined up the duck tape so it’s like the sticky together and the non sticky on both sides! It was the only thing we could find to use

That should work. My nest boxes are milk crates with cut out fronts and we cut cardboard and wedged it in the opening so she could climb out but they wouldn’t fall out. We even made a little cardboard ramp for them once we moved her to the floor. Took only a few days and they were already hopping in and out with her.

Hi NorthMI, that looks amazing! I've also seen folks, like Becky on YouTube, use those plastic storage bins with a hole cut out in one side for laying boxes, which also would work well for a nesting box.

Sounds good. Would love to see pics.
Have any hatched yet?

Hi, how's it going? Have any hatched yet?
Yes we got her all moved and have 3 hatched and one that was cracked pretty good that mama was working on. We just took her 100% out of the coop as the roosters kept getting her upset.

That’s a good idea I posted below what we did. The roosters were really upsetting her so we took her out of the coop! Are plans are to make another coop a smaller one for our hens that want to sit so that we can control the rooster situation next time!

Glad you got her moved and she stuck with the nest!
Not just let her get on with it. ;)

Four have hatched! Now the fun part lol
Is figuring out what kind they are! Since she sat on other hens eggs will be like a fun surprise!
