I'm not sure what exactly happened in the incubator. haven't ever had it happen before. two chicks popped out fine and were drying right. One came out but was sticky. and one was zipped but stuck in it's shell. I took the one that was stuck in shell into the kitchen and had to run him under warm water until the egg started to finally loosen up so I wasn't hurting her by tearing it off :( I dried her and popped her back in the incubator.

The next day both were still not fluffing, so I took them one after the other to the sink and used a little dawn and washed them. then dried...then back in the bator to keep them warm. and moved them all to the brooder that night. All are doing well.

I know some people say don't wash them, but worked great for me, and just water wasn't getting off the bits, so i actually was thinking about the oil rigg spills lol and the dawn got the stuck pieces to come right off.

Washing them is risky as they can get chilled very quickly, but it sounds like you knew what you were doing

Glad it worked out well.

I think it helped it was hot, and I popped them back in the incubator to warm up. Vs putting them where there could be a draft
