First timer- listless 2 day old chick

She might have a problem figuring out the nipple. I'd keep giving her water droplets from your finger tip until you see her actively drinking water on her own. Give her a jar lid with water and pebbles or marbles to catch her eye if need be. Dehydration is a killer.
Will do! Is it normal for the other 5 to get it no problem and just 1 to have a block? Her ‘sisters’ are pros!

Not sure about normal, but I think some chicks just take a little longer to figure things out. Our slower chick took longer to figure out drinking or maybe her late hatch just put her a little behind the curve. We've had to watch her for pasty butt after that but she seems to be past that now too.

Good to know, thanks so much! I really want her to pull through... she’s a sweet little thing

No. You’re not being paranoid

I’m not an expert but that’s the beginning signs of not doing well. Is she eating and drinking on her own?
I had mine near a door and my kids were in and out and I think the draft got mine so I’ll ask if there is any drafts.
So then if they are panting cuz excessive heat don’t put small fan blowing, bouncing off the walls into there enclosure? Cuz I just did that.

I’m a first timer myself but i’d say alter your heat source instead of adding wind... are you using a plate or a lamp or something else? mine were panting from stress last night but i have them at a nice 90 degrees, no air movement, tonight and they’re snoozing comfortably

Yeah mine are the eight days old. And the heat source( heat lamp ) is about three feet away.

Hmmm... purely speculation but maybe try to move the lamp further away and keep a thermometer in there (if you haven’t already) to pinpoint the best temp for them to be comfortable?
