I have read and heard many different things in regards to raising peafowl. My question is, when do you all move them outside to an outdoor coop? Mine are 2 months. I want to move the brooder box outside with stall refresh(I think it's called). Our nights are typically about 70deg, occasionally dropping to about 60. Would they be ok to move outside, do you think? I still have to build their coop so they wouldn't come out of the brooder box yet.

Ours spend their first six weeks inside the nursery in brooders then are moved to outside brooders until twelve weeks. At twelve weeks they go to the ground in regular coops and runs. The outside brooders are fitted with heat lamps in case the nights get below 60*. It is a bit of an art to balance the acclimation process, we don't want them dependent on heat lamps but they will need it if it gets too cold at night. This is a great time to move chicks outside as the days are in the high 90's and nights in the high 60's and above. For more information read the 'stickies' index at the top of the peafowl forum page. You will find much more information on housing, genetics, care and feeding.
