I didn't have a hygrometer for my first miserably failed hatch, so I went to Pet Supplie Plus and found a digital thermo/hygrometer combo that worked GREAT. It was around $15.

Six Ameraucana chicks finally hatched, one with the help of my husband today. It's a bit weak, but a fighter for sure.

Thanks for the heads up suzpyoung, I'll check at pet supplies plus tomorrow in Lapeer, hopefully they'll have one there. As i wanna keep good notes on temps, turning, humidty.

And congrats on the 6 babies. Tell husband he did a good job.

Welcome Aboard FluffyColor!!!

WOW that is neat. I sure hope they hatch for ya. Are you the person I gave the phone number to call the egg company they came from?

Also be another great "secret" hatch as to what breed they are.

The eggs are brown,so they've got to be a breed that lays brown eggs.Or a cross with a mom that lays brown eggs:)

Welcome Aboard!!! We have at least a dozen of us hatching at the same time. Chicks, Ducks and Store bought eggs. And some that walkswithdog has that have some pretty interesting hair-do's LOL

Im going tomorrow to get the humidity gage that suzy suggested so I can post notes on my temps/humidity daily and keep a detailed diary of what they are a couple times a day. This way I think if I have hatching issues, I'll be able to figure out what I did wrong, and fix it in the next batch.

*crossing fingers and toes for everyone to have a great hatch day!

Good Luck!! Iam due 9-4 and Iam a first timer at hatching as well. My hands are going numb from sitting on them and I will be anxous to see how my hatch rate is going to be. I did remove three that were perfectly clear, nothing in them what so ever and can see the others moving about in the shell. I will keep you all posted. Sending good vibes your way! I will be a hatch buddy.
