First timer - starting my first batch Sept 15

What causes them to quit half way through? Can they do that even if the humidity and temp is perfect? On my RCom 20 Pro I had one clear egg and two that looked like they weren't quite as developed as all the others and I know the temp and humidity are perfect. I haven't checked them lately, I'm wating for hatch day which is one week from today YIPEE!

they can quite for a lot of reasons. Bacteria, genetic/congenital issues (cross beak, deformity, etc) are always a possibility. I helped a chick out with my last hatch that had a very severe cross-beak and some kind of tumor/deformity on the top of its head. It probably would have died in the shell. As it was, it died within an hour of being out of the shell.

I'm having humidity issues. I took my shelf liner out because my humidity wouldn't go over 40%, and I wondered if it was because the holes in the liner were so small that the water in the trays was having trouble evaporating. My humidity DID come up, but only to about 47%. I've already got2 sponges in there, so I have no idea what to do next, or what I'm doing wrong. This is soooooo irritating! I added a LOT of extra water surface area and my humidity will only go up 7%?

We just candled and locked down. Some of our shipped eggs look ready to hatch, but they are all looking good. Waiting to see where the humidity hits with full wells, and 2 jars with sponges inside. One of the jars is under a vent with tubing stuck in so we can top up. I may end up wrapping the bator seam with saran if the humidity stays too low.

I need a smiley of someone compulsively checking their watch...

AAACK! Nothing is going on! Not that it SHOULD be, since hatch day isn't technically until noon tomorrow, but I wanna see some little chicks in there!!

Got the humidity issue taken care of, but NOW my dumb incubator doesn't want to hold temp! It wants to dip down to (and hold at) 97deg or so. And that's with a new wafer!

I've got most of the lid covered with a t-shirt and I'm periodically turning a heat light on to keep it warmer than that. It seems to be working well, and has held (without the light on) at 99.7 for about 2 hours now, so I think I'll try to get some sleep.

Candled everyone before locking down tonight. One egg I tossed because it was clearly bad, one has a gigantic air cell, and all of the rest already had internal pips and I could hear peeping. Got everyone situated, humidity increased, turner removed...we are ready for chickies!
