Hello I am new to raising my own chickens. Our son gave us 6 Rhode Island Red chicks just over 3 weeks ago. Surprise! I’m looking forward to caring for them and eventually having fresh eggs. I found BYC when I was searching for coop ideas on Pinterest. I noticed all the best ideas and general hints were here!
I am a quilter and have a home daycare and my husband retired from the fire service last month. He is building our coop and I know I will find great information to help us keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer here in Massachusetts.
I have been amazed at how fast the chicks are growing and how friendly they are.
I’m looking forward to learning from everyone.
