Im sad to say that one of my eggs did not make it. My 3 year old was running around and tripped and knocked into the incubator. The egg I chose cracked. It was a bad egg anyways. It was really smelly. So needless to say that one didnt make it. I dont think 2 others made it either. They all looked the same as the one that cracked. Im giving them 3 more days. BUT the one that I did candle is still moving around. After he hit the incubator that was the first thing I did was to check to make sure the baby was ok. He was moving around and doing tricks lol I also added 4 more eggs. They looked promising. They will be here around Christmas. Ill keep posting updates.

I skimmed through the thread but didn't see anyone mention anything about the humidity. To bring humidity up more, you can simply add more sponges or water containers. The more water surface you have exposed to air, the higher the humidity will get.

I have a Little Giant right now, and had to raise the humidity REALLY high for some turtle eggs (temp is also only 85 degrees for those). Normally the LG stays at about 50% if I simply fill the trays in the bottom, but I needed closer to 80% for the turtles. So I took some of those shallow plastic containers you get from a grocery store deli, put water in them, and put those in the incubator. I hit 78% soon after.


Also, chickens can easily hatch with humidity *AROUND* 50%, and the temperature BETWEEN 99 and 102. So there is room for a little bit of error without really affecting your eggs. Try reading other threads about lockdown though. Lots of people say stop turning the eggs, and raise the humidity during the last three days of hatch. But for the most part, that isn't needed. You can keep turning them, and keep the humidity AROUND 50%, and they'll still be just fine.

I am currently looking at making an incubator for my own fertilised eggs any suggestions on why type of box to use,,we don't have foam coolers here well I haven't seen any around and also do u have to have a humidity monitor or water dish with sponge be enough and what days can I candle thanks. Day 10! Baby is VERY active!! Almost cant see in the egg anymore! The others ones are dead eggs... I did however get the eggs my mom brought back. She had them in the fridge for a week. I grabbed them on monday to make cookies with and before I did anything I candled them haha! (Im totally addicted) I saw 2 that looked promising. So I said what the heck and brought them to room temp and threw them in the incubabtor. Exactly one week after my first batch. Well I candle all of them since this is day 10 for the first ones. Day 3 for the new ones and well I saw blood rings! So I may have 2 more new babies!! This is SUPER exciting!!

Then on this one you can see a dark spot in the middle and a little faint ring around it.

My First baby!! Baby is VERY mobile and wouldnt stop moving!

I have a humidity monitor that I bought at Walmart for $8. If you see the first pic in the thread you can see what it looks like. I am also using a 20 watt light bulb. 25 watt was too much heat and 15watt wasnt enough for the size cooler I have. You could also try out of a small plastic cooler. Ive seen a thread somewhere in here where they did just that. I would candle around day 3 to check for the blood veins. Then Day 7 to see for growth and day 10 to make sure they are active and still alive. Im not an expert since this is my first time but thats what I have done. And trust me when I say dont get discouraged if you dont see anything at first. We have brown eggs and I didnt think I would see anything but surprisingly You can tell if there is a baby in it. Hey thanks I'm in England so I think our watt bulbs may be diff as I am using a 60w one and the temp is around 99/100 I have a humidity monitor in there with temp on to and it's currently sitting at 51% is that to high

thats what mine sits at... On day 18 the humidity needs to be around 65% I have a water dish with a wet sponge in it but on day 18 if I add another dish and sponge it will bring the humidity right where it needa to be.

Ok so through the night my temp dropped to 94 I brought it back up soon as I seen will that be a problem
