We had one last night...matter of fact. All cuddled up with dumplings

Is it true that the meaner they are, the better they taste?

Updated progress photos!

Nest boxes under construction(skipped that step before in the last photos....):

Attached, with a roof:

Now has sides and a bottom:

From the end, all closed up, window open, then all open:

Oh, and got the roof on. Middle panel is a "smoked" clear, for more light!

I have the door on to the right of the nest boxes now, but no pictures yet. Have the nest box door to do yet, and the fence/enclosure area on front. Then we'll paint, put the wire up, and be ready for transferring the chicks!

More great progress on Saturday......

Things left to do......wire it, build the roost, rig the pop door opening/lock, build their ramp to the ground, and make the feeders and waterers. Then pray the wheels aren't so skinny they sink! If they do.......DUALLYS!!!!

Oh, and frame a doorway into the enclosure area.

Also debating on another window. I tend to think the window on one end, plus the areas just under the roof are sufficient ventilation. But, we can always add more in. What say the experts?

I have an open soffit on my coop covered of course with hardware cloth and 11 windows. IMO it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. You can close windows when not needed that way.

So, I have all the wire up, the roost built, the ramp built, pop door rigged, etc. (forgot the camera card, so can't load pics yet).

Question of the day: For the TOP of the run enclosure, is there any reason I couldn't use regular bird netting, instead of wire/hardware cloth?

DOH, never mind, found my answer with SEARCH.......whoda thinked it?
