First trip to TSC...

:oldWe have a TSC and I find that they have been fairly good about suppyling chickens. There have been times that I was disappointed but all in all they have been good. The chickens that I have gotten there have done good. There are things that I buy there and things that I buy else where.I shop around for my chicken needs.

I work at our local TSC and i'm referred to in there lovingly by our customers as "the chicken lady." I am in charge this year of the ordering of breeds of chicks for our store. I wanted to have as large a selection as I could for our customers so a few weeks before chick days was to start I started asking customers what breeds of birds they would want to see in this year. There were some breeds I knew I was just not gonna get in so I compromised and got a great selection. We have Guineas,Geese, ducks, turkeys, speckled sussex, cochins (standard and bantam), buckeyes, and of course the regular red production egg layers and cornish x for the people who want butcher chickens. I was even able to order in heritage breed turkeys like the royal palm, bourbon red and the naragansett. Now I am not only an employee but a regular customer so I wanted to see in what I would want as a customer myself. We do get an order every week of at least 350 chicks no matter how many we have left from the week before. The 2 weeks before easter we got 500 in each weak from the regular hatchery. I think chick days this year was a huge success for our store. Now I don't think all TSC stores are the same but ours is an exception I think, lol.

Sounds like you work at a wonderful TSC and people in your area are lucky to have someone so knowledgeable to help them out...the people in mine didn't really seem to know what was going on!!!
