First winter with chickens :)

Hi I'm new to BYC, I've learned so much from you guys already! but I was wondering about the red heat lamp I hav pointed into my coop.
Does the extra light mess with their production? I didn't want to make them produce more eggs in the winter so they could conserve that energy to keep warm in our 0 degree and below winter here in michigan. Thanks in advance

That's a great article, maybe I'm babying them a little lol I didn't see anything on if their retinas register the red light like daylight though :/
