fisrt timer going to buy an incubator

I was going to suggest you buy the best you can afford- that way you might avoid some of the new hatcher pitfalls, but it looks like you are already on the right path!! Im jealous! Wish I could go for one of those!!! Maybe someday.....

Hatching is sooo fun! There is a reason there are threads dedicated to hatch-o-holics! Its very addicting!

My only suggestion? Have something of a plan- what breeds you want, how many chicks you can house and feed, what your future goals are. Its sooo hard to let go of any babies you hatch, they are like family after awhile.

What breeds are you into?

I've got a 1502 but let me warn you away from where I got it. Stay away from Surehatch.com, they had a great price but now I see why, the customer service sucks. Go straight to GFQ and order it from them, they're pretty backed up right now but at least they can answer a question when you call unlike surehatch which just gives you a runaround. I just bought my hatcher from GFQ.

Whats your plan for hatching those different species? All at the same time? Dont chickens and guineas have to have different temps, humidity and incubation time?

Lol at suzette, I know - know I have a lot to look at and plan for. Ever since I started with the first 2 chickens i got it has been crazy since. But, I have to start somewhere.

I have a older sportsman. I love it. It orginally had a wafer thermostat. We changed it and put in a digital thermostat. The digital does hold the temp much better than the wafer did.
