I spent so much time researching on this site and these forums that I figured I might as well join up!

A couple weeks ago I acquired 5 Muscovy ducks and did a lot of research before I took them in. This site was an awesome tool and I learned so much before the ducks even came to me. All the ducks were rescues and of course, with that comes some frustrating issues (namely Bumblefoot - that condition haunts me in my dreams). Of course, it's not the duck's fault, so I continue to treat them and have been blessed to have gained so much knowledge from BackyardChickens and its members.

So as I trudge on forward, I look forward to reading, asking, and even one day answering questions!

I'm very happy to have found this site!

Welcome! Happy to have you on board. Those ducks are beautiful and very lucky to have you as their keeper. And wow, that is some major space in that pen. It looks like a duck resort!

Thanks! Glad to be here!

Yes, they are now living at the "Lucky Duck Resort" as I like to call it, lol. My hubby is very handy and built a 400 square foot enclosure with 1/2 metal, 1/2 hardware mesh roof. Lovely barn-style duck house is inside. The entire enclosure is covered in hardware mesh as well as the mesh embedded into the ground 2 feet down and 1 foot out. I did the digging; hubby did the building and we encourage predators to even try to get into Fort Knox. ;) Ok, so "encourage" may be too strong a word.

We have a 2 acre property, so when the weather gets better and they get used to this place as home (and a couple of them need to get over Bumblefoot first), then they'll be out free-ranging all day and sleeping in the enclosure at night. I thin they live better than we do!
