i like your idea of letting the chickens get to the leaves of cut branches before chipping htem. it makes it easy on the chipper. i put the chipped branches back into the coop and put it in to the composter every few months.

We have a fixed run/coop. Each night when I tuck the girls in I scoop the poop and put in a bucket for weekend transportation to the manure pile in the lower field. I was going for the deep litter method in the coop and yearly clean out, but have since changed my mind to clean out every 4 months or so. I plan on starting a vermiculture station for poo. This spring I would like to build a second run for rotating the flock.
