Flat Bottomed Chick?

I seem to have hatched a chick with a completely flat bum. This is causing problems as when it poops it just clings on to the fluff around the vent. Whereas in a normal chick it would fall off due to the shape of the bird. HELP!?

Applying a little olive oil or vaseline to the area will help prevent the droppings from sticking to the fluff. You can also trim the fluff very carefully with some sharp scissors, but this can be risky! So try the oil/vaseline first.
