Flat packable temporary pens???

I have been thinking of this a lot lately and I have decided to build a pin/coop that I can take apart when I am through with it and then put it back together when I need it again. I recently lost my rooster to a coyote and have been looking for a replacement. I have seen roosters and hens offered on craigs list but I found that I have the problem of not being able to isolate them from my other hens in order to insure they do not have any diseases. So what I thought I would do is just buy some 2x4 lumber and frame out some pannels that I could bolt together and then unbolt. I have a roll of welded wire fencing that is 4 ft high so I thought that I would make a run area 4ft high x 8ft long and 4ft wide. I would make the front of it a door that would swing open and the back of it would have a small coop area that bolts to the run. Right now I have all the ideas running through my head but I am going to start on this soon because I am going to go up to a sale this weekend and hopefully come back with a new roo and maybe some new hens.

I have a few of the giant breed dog crates that would work well for an isolation coop. The wire ones do fold flat, but one of mine is the hard plastic kind that takes up slightly more room to store.

I've been thinking along those lines too

. But I thinks you may want to go with a 2x3 or even a 2x2 for less weight if you're going to move it around. Make 4x4 panels and if you hinge them in a zig zag fashion they can be folded up for storage. If you make several "sets" of 5 panels each, you can configure multiple small connecting pens or one big pen. Put some kind of fastening hardware (bolt, eyehook, whatever) on each end to lock sets together. You can fasten netting or chicken wire on the top temporarily with twist ties.
