What is up with the flat egg? I thought it was a piece of paper in the coop until I pulled it out. The shell isn't particularly hard or soft, but definitely appears to be a shell. No yolk or white. Everything has been normal until this. Is there anything to worry about? I think I found a thread from 2011 where someone found something similar but I couldn't see the picture to compare.

Okay, so this looks to be where the hen eats the inside of the egg. Just happened to me the other day.

So this normally means your chicken is board and they need more space, or just something new like a pile of grass ect.

But also you could have hens that just eat the eggs. This could be a problem, just depends on how many do it , and if you can’t get them to stop.

But one way to solve this is collect the eggs multiple times a day, so they have no time to eat it. Another way would be don’t feed your chickens egg shells without crushing them first. And in general just don’t feed eggs until they learn to stop.
Hope this helps , God bless you!

Looks like weak shelled egg, fair game for eating as they ore often easily broken or broken by accident.

How long have your birds been laying?
What all and how exactly are you feeding?
