Does anyone use these for shipping and pay the flat rate or is it cheaper to use a what ever box and have the package weighed. I have not shipped eggs before and plan to soon.

Agree - depends on how far away and how heavy the box is. I've found that the postage on the 12x12x8 boxes is usually a little cheaper than the flat rate boxes but only by a dollar or two. I've also found that you can fit more and package better in the 12x12x8 boxes than in the flat rates. You'll probably have to do a couple of each to see which way works out better.

Edited to add: the priority boxes are free from the post office and you can order them online and have them sent to the house.

I'm going to disagree

I never use the flat rate boxes, and most times it is cheaper to ship with the other ones, for me. I've only had a few times where the package was going to the west coast and it would have been cheaper to use flat rate. But it was less than $1, and the box would have been too small

I use the priority #4 and #7, and keep a few shoeboxes on hand in case I run out of the others.

I use the flate rate. It just works better for me and I know exactly what to charge someone for shipping no matter where they are and I can include a lot of extras with out worrying about costing them more.
