I buy ground flax and put it on my salads. I also make my own dog food and dog treats and they get a healthy dose of flax everyday, their coats are shiny and healthy...I believe it does really work.
I put flax seed oil on my salad. I take Omega-Zen daily. I am a vegetarian and need to pay attention to my omegas. I do get extra omegas from my free ranging chickens. I do feel better when I do not fall behind.
I use the flax seed too. I just grab a small handful and munch on them. They do tend to get stuck in my teeth sometimes, so I'll just sprinkle some in my food.
I also mix some of it into the chooks feed. They like it too.
Just now made a smoothie with flax seed in it.
1/2 banana
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1 1/2 cups skim milk
2TBS ground flax seed
ZOOOOOOOOM in the blender
I have read that the omega 3's in flax seed aren't readily available and that it must be ground (or oil)in order to release them.

The D I was taking was Caltrate 600 + D , Caltrate is pretty popular, so I felt safe taking it. I know they say you should talk with your doctor before taking stuff. But who really does that with vitamins. Doctors seem to rushed now a days to sit and ask questions.
My GI Dr told me to take flax seed oil every day. It is supposed to help reduce inflamation in the body.
I have Chrones Disease. I tried it for a few weeks. I never could get used to the oil. I always gagged.
I remember as a child, my grandmother had a medicine bottle full of flax seed. If anyone got something in their eye my grandmother would drop a flax seed in their eye. It would make your eye water and wash out whatever was in your eye. It was amazing and sounds crazy but it worked.
