fleas and horses

anyone else ever have a horse get infested with fleas? I went to trim my horses hoofs this morning and when I got done with the front my arms were covered with them. I gave her a bath and gave her a coat of pyrethrin(sp?) and looks to have killed alot of them.

My horses don't get fleas, but they do get flies and ticks. I feed them bug off garlic in their grain and don't have any problems. I also give it to my dogs and they don't have fleas.

I've never had fleas on my horse. Could they have been something else? This time of year I get the tiny gnats. They like the ears and lower legs. Time to break out the masks and wipe!

fleas do not like horses however it could be the ticks or mange?. For some reasons fleas do not like horses LOL!

i researched it and horses can have fleas believe it or not.

I wonder if you weren't working in an area where fleas were hatching?
