Fleas around eyes

How common are stick tight fleas on dogs and cats? I ask because one year I noticed that one of the feral cats had a few on her ears.

Here in Michigan, we see the cat flea on dogs, cats, and other canines. Happily, no sticktight fleas up here!
I'd still avoid any of the pet friendly topicals on your chickens, and use permethrin. Even Ivermectin might be a better choice, as it is used on other livestock species and on humans, if it will kill those fleas.

Good to know. I was doubtful, but hate to see people using topicals suitable for dogs on their chickens!
These little fleas are disgusting! Does the permethrin work? Seems like it should do fine.

It does work, but I found it works best to apply a 0.5% dilution directly to the fleas. It kills them instantly and almost all will fall off in 24-72 hours. Those that don't fall of can be scraped off with your fingernail.

Why? I am a veterinarian and I will do it if necessary.

I see that. it's approved for use in poultry houses in the absence of the poultry, not on the birds.
