Fleas in the house ***NEVERMIND***

Just call your vet and confirm that you can put Frontline on your cats.

I sprayed my cat with Frontline and did so for years. I used the spray bottle because I treated my Doberman, my Jack Russells and my cats with the same product. It's something like one squirt per pound.

But call your vet to make yourself feel better.

**I don't use Frontline on my cat anymore. Now I use Revolution, which treats worms, ear mites as well as fleas... But it's pretty pricey. In our area, the fleas have become resistant to the Frontline.

I haven't tried the Revolution yet but my vet just sent home a tube of it for our newest kitten and the tube says "for puppies and kittens less than 5 pounds" so it too must be suitable for either. I did ask my old vet (now retired) about the Advantage/Frontline when I first started splitting one large dog tube amongst many cats, and he said it's the same thing, just the concentration/amount per pound was different. My chemist/husband says same thing too. But, never hurts to ask. However, my new/young vet would probably tell me I need to have a series of blood tests, MRI, and cat scans done before applying any flea treatment just to be sure the cat does not have a reaction to it. (I kid you not). I hear the same thing every time one pet gets taken in for well pet visit and shots. I'm always saying "I'll take my chances - just give it its shots".

I always try to use as little poisons (of any type) as possible and one drop instead of a whole tube works just as well with the flea treatment. I don't use pesticides outside or spray my home either but if I didn't use something for the fleas I would be run out of my home by them.

I use Frontline on both the dogs and cats, but would not recommend using the dog formula on cats. I will split dog dosage, buying the larger size and splitting it using a syringe saves me lots of $$$ as it is cheaper per dose the larger you go and the formulation is the same. The DE did not work for me but if you have an infestation, I recommend buying Capstar pills (you can find it on line), it will kill any fleas on the pet at that time but has no residual effect. Apply Frontline at the same time, and spray all areas the pet frequents. Wash all bedding also. You have to break the cycle so you will need to spray x3 every 10 days and then frontline every month. It will work but it takes time and is an all out war. I also think sprinkling Borax in pet bedding works better than DE. Nontoxic and no breathing concerns and you can pick it up at the grocery store. It does not break down as fast.

we use two products here...one is called "revolution"...it kills ALL fleas in contact with the animal within about 5-6 mins...dont ask me how but i does. The animal eats the pill and 5 mins later there is a pile of dead fleas on the ground around the animal. There is also a revolution dropper stuff for the back of the neck. This stuff works awesome but is really expensive...i think we paid around $100 for a 3 month supply for the cats. Frontline works well too and is cheaper but this revolution stuff is ridiculous!
