I rescued a few chickens about six weeks ago, I was told they were up to date with worming and things. Last week I noticed one of the chicken's feathers on her tummy were coming out, I thought maybe she was having a moult dealing with the stress of being in a commercial farm for so long, she had feathers there when I got her, and now she doesn't! The other two don't seem to be loosing feathers. This week I've noticed these tiny grey things crawling on the roof of their hen house, at first I only noticed a couple but not each time I go to their house I see lots of them crawling about the roof of the house. So I bought some Diatom and today scrubbed the hen house with Poultry Shield and then doused the house and the chickens in Diatom, When I went to shut up their house this evening I still saw a couple but not as many on the roof. Have I done the right thing to rid of them? What else can I do? Do you think this is why one of them has lost her feathers?! Sorry for so many questions, I'm new to chickens. TIA, Catherine.
