Flicking feed everywhere!

Hi!
I am new to owning chooks, and we currently have 6 highland browns. One has gotten in the habit of flicking the feed out of the feeder constantly, this is causing a wastage off food and the possibility of attracting unwanted pests.

Has anyone come across this before? Any ideas on how to prevent this?

Mine are doing the same, i think they are bored honestly. I was told to try this feeder from Amazon. It is in my cart now.

I am making diy pvc feeder for in my coop tomorrow. They look very easy to make and seem like they will help with wasting.

you could probably make one out of plumbing pipe with a j bend cheaper, and put it to right height , you can always put a ;lid on it if they are still doing it

Yup. Chickens love to make a mess with both food and water if at all possible. I've gone to both PVC waterer and feeder. Here are a couple of how-to videos for low-waste chicken feeders:

Yep they all do it; I also find it helps to use crumbs or pellets, if the feed is uniform in size and colour they can’t dig for the best bits

They appear to be very similar to the chicken feeders.
