geojane42...because you live so close to Bellingham,I would come over and get a 50# bag of DE @ WFC in Lynden It sells for less than $20 and last a very long time. It is food grade. The B'ham store # is 360 734-4010 they can give you Lyndens # good luck

cool! thx for the tip. Do you think I'd have any trouble taking it over the border?

The bottle fly traps work for me. However, they stink pretty bad, and I don't know your personal situation, but they will attack bears. You may want to stick with the fly strips.

And about those electric bug zappers, I have one that has been hanging around for about two years and I have not seen it kill anything yet.

Chickens will eat frogs??? Oh boy - didn't think of that one! We live next to a marshy wet-land and the occasional frog does hop our way. Should I be worried?

Yep... frogs, lizards, skinks, etc... If it moves, your chickies will eat it. On a different but similar topic, we have a large koi pond with large koi. Over the past several years they have developed a taste for frog legs... just the legs. I HATE this! This past week I've found two dead frogs at the bottom of the pond... well, really - just their little TORSOS!
