How do all of you keep the flies down in between cleanings?

Use a cultivator to turn the bedding, sprinkle fresh chopped straw on top
Get fly predators
Set up four or five bottle-type flytraps around the yard
Hang Vanillarama Little Tree car air fresheners near gates and doors
Rake up spilled feed once a day, turn it into the compost

Oh wonderful advice. I already do fresh straw. The vanilla air fresheners will help too? That's awesome and I am totally trying them! Thank you for the advice. I know I'm doing something right as up until yesterday I thought I had two hens and a drake but they surprised me with mating. I have two drakes and a hen! I now need to find a couple more hens. I have Pekins but I want some color and broodiness so I'd like to find Ancona or Rouens..too funny. I should've sexes them as babies!

What made you think you have 2 ducks and 1 drake?
Is it just mating behavior that makes you think now you have 2 drakes and 1 duck?

If you have a quacking breed and 2 of them are quacking and only 1 rasper, you have 2 girls.
