I was thinking about how hard it is to see the level through those somewhat translucent but really too opaque white quart water bottles for poultry. I am using them until i get a watering system set up in my quail cages, but I am often right up next to the cage and can’t see the water level unless i reach in and move the bottle to see the surface movement. Is there any kind of little float ball anyone has found that doesn’t cost a fortune that I can stick in the jar? I might just buy some colored ping pong balls if I cant find something smaller.

I'd go to the fishing dept. of any store you'll find all kinds of bobbers or floats in many colors. They should work well and are pretty inexpensive

Oh i suppose, i didn’t really think of that. The problem with plastic bobbers is that they are not entirely waterproof, so may harbor mold or bacteria if used for a while.

There are tons of different floaters and bobbers now some are a squishy foam and brightly colored
Yes, but all of them contain metal and have places that you can’t really clean out. I used to fish constantly. Like— dawn to dusk from age 4-24 until I got too busy with kids who weren’t interested 😣. But I did just find creatology “sensory balls” that are available at different craft stores, for making a preschool educational “touch” projects. They look like they are very similar to the balls in those ball pits but much smaller, and they claim to be washable so they must be air and water tight. They seem to be about maybe an inch diameter, many different colors to choose from. I will probably pick some up on Monday when I am in town and see if they work.
