Just wondering if the egg test was accurate. Where you put the egg in a cup of water and if it floats, its bad and if it sinks its good. Does this really work or is it a wives tale?

I only tried it once but it worked for me. We found a "secret" nest with about 25 eggs, it was nice they were all still good. We did not sell those particular eggs but they were great! I was glad I knew about the float test, would have been a shame to waste them.

Yes it works, also if the eggs sinks depend on how it lays at the bottom, tells how old the egg is.

The older a egg is the larger the air cell. That is the reason the test works.

Yep yep, I have found it works well

You know...you can smell when an egg is rotten before you even crack it.

The floating test is based on the size of the air cell in the egg. You may be throwing out "good" eggs that are still usable in baking.

Thanks! Some weeks, I don't sell all of my eggs and never know if they are good or not. I didn't want to do the float test if it wasn't right.

Isn't this backwards? It seems to me that the larger the air quantity, the more it would float? Hmm. I don't get it.
