Can I float eggs to see how old they are before I incubate them.
I go a pkg of eggs off ebay.
Several were broke, when I opened them to see if they were fertile one was very rotten.
I would like to float test them to see if it's worth incubating them.
Ok I candled them all one is bright red. Is this another rotten egg or was it scrambled. either way I am afraid to put it in my incubator.

I was really hoping somebody could answer this question, so I broke down and did a lengthy search (using BING), and here is what I came up with. About halfway down the page, it discusses the float test, but this test was done with "freshness" in cooking and baking in mind, and not hatching. I hope this helps a little.

Just for the heck of it, I searched for "how to freeze eggs" and this is what I came up with:

I've read that, I was wanted to know if it's like washing them. which you not supposed to do before incubation.
I did float part of them and they passed the test for freshness. So I'll go ahead and incubate.
I ordered twice what I need Just in case.
The quail business is crazy to say the least.
