I bought a Flock Block to treat/entertain my chickens. I noticed that the BOSS still have the shell. Can they digest the shell? I have been buying the sunflower hearts and mixing it with corn for their treat. Do I need to feed them the hearts? They are very pricey!!

SWEET!!!!

That will be a lot easier on my wallet!

Yes, they can eat the shell. And the flock block is amazing! My chickens love it. It takes them about 2 weeks to finish it off then its back to Tractor Supply for another one. LOL.

I cannot get any of my birds to eat the block, they are just too hard.

Absolutly! My babies free range but they also have 24/7 access to layer crumbles, oyster shell (free choice), and water. I have sand for them to dust bathe in which they also eat too

So I figure that they are getting enough grit (sand) to aide their digestion. Besides all this they get daily vegetarian household foods w/ added olive oil (for extra energy for this winter), corn, and BOSS.

I think they're pretty spoiled...ooops
