Probaby a dumb question but , How do you know what bird layed which egg. Do they always lay in the same place or do I have to set there and watch them. I just got my first egg this afternoon and do not have a clue which one of the 24 laid it.

Thanks
Dennis

I guess based on who I see go in when. (But apparently I don't guess well as two of the chicks I thought were going to be GLWxBo turned out to be SLWxBO!

In the chart I mark it if I see who is in the nest and mark it with a question mark when I'm guessing. They do lay in a pattern so after a while I can kind of see overall pictures.

Truthfully I think they like messing with our heads by changing up time and location and color tint of egg. Brats.

Here is the data I collected on my Dark Brahma's eggs for their first 100 days of laying. And also the chart I use to keep track of progress and log observations. As you can see I cannot get a picture of them to transfer over so they are probably useless.

First 100 days of laying. I cannot get the chart to transfer over. But it shows a nice parabolic increase in their size. The eggs plateau at about 8 weeks of lay.

I used Microsoft word and made a chart to keep up with how many eggs the girls lay a day. I wanted to see if there was a drop off during the year and which months they laid the best. I started this in the middle of January. To my surprise Feburary had the most eggs even through it is the shortest month. I'm going to keep doing this chart to see if they keep the about the same numbers year after year.
