As many of our BYC friends here in Colorado have faced evacuation issues, and some are still out of their homes due to fires, my wife and I started thinking about evacuation plans for our families and our flocks. I would really like to hear some of you individual plans for evacuating your flocks, whether large or small, in case of an emergency. We are still putting one together, but I think ,for us, it would depend on the nature of the emergency; how severe, what type, etc. In a worst case scenario, and we were limited on space, we would probably only be able to take our best breeders in a large dog crate.

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts and plans.

Had to do this a few years ago. We had 30 girls in crates loaded in the cars, ready to go. Scary times.

Plan? "Honey, put the chickens in the car. Don't forget the feed." Does that count?
