Thinking that come April, we will add about 25 new chicks. Have given alot of thought to that, and thinking of adding more Delawares, Easter Eggers, Buff Orphs, and some more Golden Comets. Also intend to replace our Jersey Giants, and add our first white Plymouth Rocks and New Hampshires.

That would put the collective back to 50 or so hens, and 5 roosters, with a nice mix of the above and the existing RI Reds, Delawares, Easter Eggers, Orphs, Leghorns, Comets, Cinnamon Queens and our Chantecler Rooster.

I think we can go with the single coop, but not opposed to building a separate one. Either way, we have over 2 acres fenced for them to wander.

Would you all keep a single coop, or go to a second?

I'm have 16 new chicks this spring. I'm planning to build a second coop. I'll take my new eggers into the existing egg flock when they are fully grown, cutting down on bullying. I'll keep the brahmas and buckeyes in the new second pen.
