Okay, so I already had a mixed flock of 5 that are in the 8-10 month rage and 2 that are now 14 weeks old. I picked up 4 7-week old pullets today that a guy had been growing out for me and my big girls scared me because they seriously looked at those little biddies like they were fresh meat.
I was prepared for some picking and the whole nine but I couldn't bear much especially when it was my 14 week olds that forgot what they were like a mere 7 weeks ago. I cordoned off the new ones to let them see each other through a fence but 2 of my older gals are squaking their heads off.
I was thinking of keeping them separate for most of the day and sneaking the younger ones into the coop tonight on a lower roost than the big girls use. Should I do that or let them get used to each other but watch out for blood being drawn.
Thinking this wasn't as good as an idea as I had first thought......
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
