Flock looking a little rough!

You can also mix in gamebird feed with their layer feed, the stuff i get has 26% protein also black oil sunflower seeds could be given as treats, cat food, dog food even.

I do have a light on them all the time....

I was also thinking about adding DE, can't find it yet. Oh and expand and make the house a little more up scale, also give the ducks their own house... Ducks are such pigs

This
is the website where I found the info on the plastic-enclosed chicken yard and lighting. Not sure if it's the same lady or not, but someone said they have a nightlight in their chicken coop because they're bad to blunder around in complete darkness. But maybe if you installed a skylight in the coop, they could get moonlight, lol. (I probably shouldn't laugh; I'm sure someone's already done that.)

My chickens look pretty ratty, too. I have searched them for mites, and I have never caught them picking. The feather loss on their backs, seems to be affecting most of them. I think it is the result of a long, hard winter and a mini-molt. Some of mine are beginning to grow new feathers, but they are a long way from beautiful. I do not have a light on in the coop. I am really hoping they feather out fast!! They are just approaching one year old...I am giving bird seed as a treat, hoping to hurry feather growth along! Happy Spring!
