My little urban flock of two suddenly stopped laying. One is a Breda, about 6 or 7, who takes a LONG winter vacation and isn't the biggest layer but she's fairly consistent this spring and summer so far with maybe three a week. The other is an Easter Egger about 4 years old who has been a DYnamo layer, like 6 a week, and she's super energetic and (I think) healthy. They free range in a healthy organic garden/yard with lots of grubs, seeds, and greens around. We are in Boston and we've been lucky; lots or rain, temps in the 80's, a few short stretches at about 90. They were both laying and all of a sudden, maybe 10 days now, nothing. I've looked hard all around for a clutch of eggs. We do have rats but I see no traces of eggs and I never see the girls go in to lay an egg like usual. Ideas? Do they have social behaviors when it comes to NOT laying eggs?
