flock raiser

I just bought a bag of flock raiser by purina.Any use it and how do you like it?My group seem to only eat the dumors when all the rest of scratch is gone and only as a last resort.

A few years ago, I would have gone on to the Layena from the MeatBuilder, Purina used to make. With this bunch, I've decided to just stay with the Flock Raiser.

They get oyster shells free choice - that's a must now that they are laying. But, they've liked this feed ever since I switched them off their starter. It was real easy to change - the hard part was getting them to finish the last of their starter (not Purina).

I appreciate the 20% protein that's in the Flock Raiser and since they are getting quite a selection of stuff from the kitchen (and the garden earlier); it just seemed like a better idea than going with the 16% protein Layena.

My birds love Flock Raiser and unfortunately when I went to buy a bag today after work, the hatchery was out and I had to buy Layena or they wouldn't have had any food! I hope they eat this as well as they do the Flock Raiser, next time I won't wait so long to go to the feed store!

For a while I was feeding medicated chick starter for the chicks and Flock Raiser for the ducks. (They share a coop and run). The ducks couldn't eat the chick starter, but the chicks could get to the Flock Raiser... and they loved it. I recently switched everyone over to Layena and the chicks love that too. I guess I'm just lucky in that my chicks seen to eat anything that's in front of them!

The Purina Flock Raiser, Layena and Scratch is what is carried in my local feed store.

I was told they didn't need the Layena, that the Flock Raiser was the ultimate healthy diet, but I feed all three.

I call the Flock Raiser the "Birth to Death" food. Can't imagine how boring it would be to only eat one food the entire life span. They prefer what people call "scraps", but around here they get fresh fruits and vegetables.

I used Flock Raiser when I had different age chickens living together. They loved it and nothing changed with my egg production. Once mine were all at laying age I switched over to Layena layer pellets.

I always offer oyster shell free choice also.
