Just couldnt decide from so many great choices....so I got 5 each of the most popular...And from what I have learned from everyone here on BYC in my short time here....I made a wise choice.
I gather that the Buffs are REAL

Well I placed the order with McMurray last night. I wanted a couple different ones, but they were sold out for the week we have spring break at work. So I settled on the following:

Attack of the feather foots!(sort of)
3 Speckled Sussex Hens
4 Dark Brahma Hens
1 Dark Brahma Roo
3 Salmon Faverolles Hens
1 Salmon Faverolles Roo
3 Buff Cochin Hens
3 Delaware Hens
3 Black Cochin Hens

I figure they'll produce about the right number of eggs for us later on. Most of all I'm looking for friendliness, cold-heartiness, and good looking lawn ornaments.

How'd I do?

Nothing like some "yard confetti" to liven things up.
Instead of us diving in to make recommendations, we should have said, "Go with your gut."
It's like being in a candy store, aint it?

Well I really value what people on here say. Primarily because I don't know very much about the whole topic of poultry husbandry. I've got one year under my belt, and like most things I'm sure you can spend a lifetime raising birds and still not know the half of it.

That said, I do have my tastes. I think the marriage of everybody's experience with different bird and my personal likes make for a good selection. The problem is like you say. There's so many types and looks etc that I want some of each.
